The Makli Hills near Thatta, about 100 km from Karachi, has about one million graves scattered over an area of 15.5 square kilometers. With their stone carving, surface traceries, and color tiling, some graves of rulers in this city of the dead are notable specimens of architecture. Here in eternal sleep lie kings, queens, Scholars, Philosophers and soldiers of a by-gone era, an era renowned for its culture and learning.
The grave stones and mausoleums stones represent the different era's and dynasties. There are monuments of Summa period (14th to 16th centuries), the Tarkhan & Arghun period (16th century), and the Moghul period (16th to 18th centuries).

In October 1981, Thatta and Makli were included in the World Heritage list of historical monuments by UNESCO.
Although there was a sign prohibiting the taking of photos or videos (I took a video of that sign) I didn't see anyone around to enforce it so I took a lot of photos and some video to be able to share this beautiful place with others.
